For this more 20's traditional house I wanted to honor the style of its architecture but add in a more modern touch. I mixed in classic modern pieces with a lot of one of a kind vintage with some fun pops of ethnic patterns and rugs. For me adding a lot of art to a house is one of the most important parts of the puzzle of design and it can really make a room come alive.

For this project I was involved from the studs up. It was a old 50's ranch house that we turned into a classic MidCentury house. I used some classic midcentury pieces and mixed in a lot of one of a kind vintage items that I searched high and low for at flea markets, specialty vintage stores down to thrift shops. Every item was hand picked down to the original vintage dish ware. I worked with a few local LA furniture designers for custom pieces in the dinning room, Master bedroom and Living room.
For me one of the things I love most about this house is the lighting and bold colors and how the inside and outside are united with big open sliding doors looking out to the LA skyline and mountains.

I had the great honor of working on this Cliff May house. He is one of the most important California architects known for creating the Ranch-style home. His use of huge skylights is magical and brings in different play of light during the day making the inside of this living room like a breathing living piece of art.
For this project I used a lot of vintage pieces and brought in local furniture makers. I wanted the live edge table to be the center piece of the house where the family gathers etc. and bring in the element of the outside in with the canopy of trees up above in the skylight.

This was an incredibly fun project and a total and complete renovation. We expanded the bedroom to have a large deck and pushed out that space to add the new bathroom. We took the old bathroom space and made it a his and hers closet creating a wonderful En Suite. By expanding and raising the deck it also created a larger more light filled space below for outdoor dinning area. Also part of this renovation was 2 girls bedrooms and another bathroom renovation. We combined a new meets old feeling for these lovely artistic clients who where willing to take chances and it really paid off.
I love this Santa Monica home for its effortless easy breezy feeling. I had furniture custom made for the living room from all local LA companies and mixed in vintage items. We picked blues and greens for living room to honor the tropical feel of the outside to unite them. For the master bedroom we added more warm tones in oranges, pinks and reds. All the art was hand picked with the client and really add to the beauty of the house.

For this beautiful modern house I went for more neutral colors on the couches and chairs and we really had fun with bold patterns in the rugs and pops of color in the pillows. We had furniture made from local designers and mixed in classic midcentury items with a hint of ethnic.

I love this big modern house. I wanted to add in a vintage rug for the large living space to bring in the unexpected. I had furniture made for the space and added wallpaper and pops of color in custom pillows. for the formal living room I brought in local furniture maker to make a more rustic modern coffee table to mix with very clean modern couches.
The NY loft was a total redo. I designed the kitchen and bathrooms and all the furniture etc. This is an incredible penthouse that overlooks the city. I wanted to keep things clean and modern looking but warm it up with ethnic accents. For me the most fun was the master bathroom and kitchen. I used Moroccan tile for the bathroom floors and mixed in super sleek modern hardware, tub and wall tile. For the lighting I did a mix of modern and Moroccan pendant lights. The warmth of the walnut cabinets brings it all together. For the kitchen I used my favorite tile maker Heath based in Los Angeles.
I worked with a great NY based team on this Mark Silverstein with Silverstein Interiors and Wayman Robertson Studio. They did the drawings and contracting on the job.
This was a wonderful project I recently did. We did a update on the kitchen, family room and Living room. I mixed modern with traditional to give this more traditional house a comfortable warmer but modern feeling. For the kitchen we kept the cabinets but painted the wood white and redid the tile and counter tops.
